I first saw Mitchell at a Senate retreat for our school's student government. I decided he was cute and a little over a year later I started dating him. Go me. Fun fact: the first time he asked me out was to go to Church together Fun fact #2: Our first official date included Thai food, getting lost in Jeff Sullivan's car (#whj), going indoor, black light, pirate themed mini golfing and finishing up with Lion King... and Lion King 1.5 (would not recommend 1.5)
Mitchell "coming in clutch" Stricker proposed on top of Mt. Hood to his one and only, super amazing, girlfriend Julia. He enlisted the help of a random dad to take pictures of the forthcoming engagement. Julia was blissfully unaware of what was about to happen and was instead spending her time finding the most *aesthetically* pleasing background. Upon dropping to one knee, Julia totally lost it, seemed only to focus on the fact that poor random dad had been pulled in to their engagement, did what she refers to as the "stupid hands over her nose thing", and also started crying. In the brisk 22 degree air, that was not the best choice. Julia spent the next 20 minutes calling up her Goddess of Honor, Lex, and de-icing the car window without gloves on. Friendly reminder that it was about 11 degrees with windchill. She soon had to pack it up because her hand was an unnatural red and she thought she was dying. Apparently getting engaged on a mountain in the snow completely wipes your brain of common sense.
