Bride
It was one bright day in June when I was swiping past dating profiles and saw this girl passionately mention how much she loved Jesus and how she was a dispensationalist. Being the theology nerd that I was, I was deeply intrigued. Little did I know the true joy of what was before me as I have gotten to know Casey over the past year. Casey is kind, a lover of people, an encourager, forgiving, humble, and loves Jesus and the Gospel more than anyone I know. She loves me fiercely and more than I deserve, pushing me to be like Christ in everything I say and do. I eagerly anticipate getting to spend the rest of my life with her, laughing, crying, and worshipping through all that God has planned for us, loving each other as Christ loves the church.
Groom
I am so grateful to God for this man: he loves me so well. He is loyal, committed, attentive, willing to admit when he is wrong, forgiving, and such an encouragement to me and so many others. Not to mention he is hilarious. Funny story: before we met, I made a list of things that I wanted in a future spouse. No joke, almost everything on there fits Jules. This is down to weird things like, "Dad joke game is strong and loves breakfast food." He really loves Christ, studying God's Word, and is a wonderful Worship Pastor. I love being able to do life with him, and continue to serve and love him the rest of our lives. I have prayed for this man my whole life, and I am so grateful to commit myself to spending the rest of our lives sharing the Gospel and serving Christ side-by-side.
Maid of Honor
My sweet sweet Sarah! This girl was an answer to prayer for me for a strong woman of God to be my best friend. She is constantly pointing me back to Christ, listening to me even when I sound crazy, and being there is really hard moments of my life (God always has her right there when something really intense happens—the timing is CRAZY/God-timing). We grew close on a mission trip to Colombia in 2014, and have been close ever since. She is married to Keith, who is absolutely hilarious and who has been waiting for a man friend haha, and they just had an adorable baby girl named Liberty.
Best Man
The man, the myth, the moustache. Elijah Sumner. Elijah and I met in 2008 as I was the awkward new kid at our homschool co-op, and we've been close friends ever since. Elijah and I spent almost every weekend together eating pizza, staying up way too late, playing video games, and in general getting on my mother's nerves. He was my first and closest friend after my family moved to Ohio, and I can't imagine making it through those tumultuous years without a friend and brother-in-Christ like him. After high school we went our separate ways, me into college, him into the Navy, but we maintained contact throughout, and I even had the honor of being his best man and officiant at his wedding. A friendship that spans years and most of the country, I'm honored to have him at my side at my wedding.
Bridesmaid
I have known Meghan since birth...because she is my sister! I love her so much: she is feisty, stylish, and so smart. It has been a joy to grow closer to her since we have become adults (we had our fair share of arguments before that). She is always willing to help me, and I am so grateful for that. She is a passionate elementary school teacher, and loves her students immensely. Favorite memories with Meg include: playing on the neighbor's dirt piles next door, her making me play teacher with her, laughing until I cried after she pretended to be a vampire, and making up gross songs about bodily functions (she knows what I am referencing). We have had our fair share of cries together too! I am grateful to God for her: He has used her to challenge me to grow many times in my life.
Groomsman
Tyler and I became fast friends when I first came to Bloom Baptist, as we quickly bonded over a shared love of Star Wars, music, worship, and theology, and have only continued to grow in our love for all of those things together since we met. Tyler is one of those individuals who I know will always be honest with me and earnestly desires the best for me, pushing me and encouraging me in my walk with Christ, and being a loyal companion in the worship ministry at Bloom. He is a true friend and brother-in-Christ, and I look forward to many more years of growing in Christlikeness alongside him.
Bridesmaid
Sweet sweet soon to be sister-in-law! I (Casey) am so excited to be a part of her family and spend more time getting to know Angelique. Memories I have enjoyed with her so far: geeking out over book series in her room (including Harry Potter of course and her illustrated Bible that I requested for Christmas as a result), watching girly movies together, just talking about life with her, Clue games, lamenting over Jules' puns, praying with her and her mom, listening to Taylor Swift (don't tell Jules haha), and walks with her around her neighborhood. I can't wait to get to know her more!
Groomsman
Andrew and I have been friends since before our first days together at Cedarville. We met and began talking together thanks to an incoming freshmen chat room, and the masters of the registrar office (as well as God's sovereign plan for our lives) placed us in the same English Composition class together. We bonded over many shared interests and were best friends for our entire time at Cedarville, and roommates for two years. Andrew has been a close brother and confidant, having been there for me through heartache, triumphs, and many late nights studying in our dorm (or watching Chuck). God blessed me with the truest of friends in Andrew, and I'm deeply grateful he'll be by my side on the big day.
Bridesmaid
Liz is the most kind, tender-hearted person that I know. I am so grateful at how she has encouraged me since we met in college. She is also hilarious, a talented illustrator, and wonderful mother (to Elias) and wife (to Ben). She has sharpened me so many times as my sister in Christ, and she is constantly there when I need her. Her, Aleona, and I have been close since college: going on trips together, being in Liz's bridal party, Noel Night at our school, and so many other wonderful times spent with one another. I am so excited for her to be by my side on my wedding day too!
Groomsman
On paper, Josh and I don't make sense as friends. He's loud, boisterous, and deeply athletic--I am quiet, timid, and a bookworm. But as I look back on our friendship from the past three years, God has obviously used each one of us to sharpen one another and I could not ask for a more loyal, steadfast friend. Josh is the kind of person who will be there when you need him--he is hardworking, sacrificing, and diligent (mostly). He has a joy and a passion for life and for Christ, and it is a boldness I can see God using in a mighty way in his future. It is my honor and pleasure to be his friend, and to have him at my side on my wedding day.
Bridesmaid
Aleona is one of the most loyal friends that I know! I met her in the dorms at College for Creative Studies and immediately wanted to be friends with her. She is so talented, smart, beautiful, and faithful. She is always there when you need her, and goes above and beyond to help her friends! She is truly a gift from God to me, and I am grateful to be her sister in Christ. We spent many late nights in college critiquing each other's work and talking about life. I wouldn't be the person I am today without her friendship and constant support! She works as an Art Director at an advertising agency, and she creates excellent work. Favorite memories of her include: traveling to visit one another, spending time in Chicago with Liz adventuring/shopping, and late night sleepovers.
Groomsman
Nathan has been my best friend since 9, and we met like any best friends do, by wanting to stab each other. Those plans were quickly foiled, however, as we were trying to do so with rubber-tipped fencing foils (see what I did there?). Close friends ever since, Nathan and I have maintained a friendship across time and space through a litany of summers of meeting at a Cracker Barrel halfway between Michigan and Ohio, producing short films, many hours of Halo, and the wonders of the Internet and digital communication. It has been a long and enduring friendship that could only have survived this long by the grace of Christ, and one that has pushed, challenged, and grown both of us through thick and thin.
