Our Love Story

As Carter and I reflect on our story together, we are reminded of how God has a story for each of us. He is working through everyone and everything. We thank the Lord endlessly for Breanna and Erik Swanson and their ability to recognize the match that Carter and I are for each other. After knowing Julee for 24 hours Breanna was quick to share with her that she knew the perfect guy for her. He was "tall, smart, and even a cowboy!" A few weeks later, Breanna then shared with Carter that she had the perfect match for him! She was "pretty, kind, and a horse girl." While both of us shrugged it off because we lived in different states, the perfect opportunity for us to meet came last year over spring break. Julee and her bestie, Emily, came to visit Breanna in Oregon and spend some time adventuring along the coast. Breanna agreed to let us stay as long as Julee promised that she would go on a date with Carter. Julee agreed figuring that Breanna wasn't really serious. But turns out she was, and a few days later a date had been set. Carter picked Julee up and they went to Vinwood Taphouse. The two of us talked for hours and asked the waitress to come back about 5 times before we had actually looked at the menu. While all first dates are a little awkward, we both knew that we had found very a genuine person with the same values and goals. Even though Carter was in fact not a cowboy after all, he was still my ideal guy. As Carter will admit, he had no interest in dating a girl who lived in another state. But, because I had a summer internship only a few hours away from where he lived, he agreed to continue talking to me. Over the Summer, we were able to spend most weekends together exploring central Oregon, visiting his parents on the coast, and going on a few Washington road trips. During this time we were able to really get to know one another and began to realize that we were falling in love. When the summer ended, and I had to move back to Idaho, it was tough to be apart. Seeing each other sometimes only once every two months led to some hard conversations about where we would go from here because long distance was hard for both of us. However, through this, we found that even apart we are better together and bring out the best in one another. This April, Carter proposed and I said Yes!! We cannot wait to get married and celebrate with all our closest family and friends. We are very excited as we start to picture our future together and bring to life all that we have dreamt about. Our plan is to call the Treasure Valley home and see where the Lord takes us!
