This is the closest local airport. When flying from a large US airport, it usually requires one layover. You can rent a car, take the train, or hire an Uber easily.

Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD)

One of the easiest airports to fly into, but it will require about a three-hour train ride.

Málaga María Zambrano Train Station

If you need to take the train from Madrid (or any other city in Spain), book tickets in advance here. Select "Madrid (Todas)" or wherever you plan to travel from as your departure and Málaga María Zambrano Train Station for arrival. The Renfe website can and will be broken at times, but unfortunately, this covers all Spanish trains.
