The scene: his last semester at school. All of Dwight's friends had graduated or transferred. He hung out with his randomly assigned roommate to look like he actually knew people. Cue Amanda, the roommate's cute and funny friend. She wowed him with stories of her trips to Europe (how exotic!) and Dwight knew he had to ask her out. He learned the hard way to always ask for a girl's number instead of giving his out, but they eventually had their first date. Three weeks later, on *cringe* Valentine's Day, they officially started dating! The star-crossed lovers were fated to be apart, and the weekend after they finally held hands for the first time (Friday, March 13th), they got sent home from school because of the COVID pandemic. This is when they began the two-and-a-half year ritual of driving the hour between each other's houses every weekend. From there, it's history.
Amanda was mostly surprised. We climbed on a roof. A shiny ring was produced. Dwight cried. We partied.
