When should I book hotels?

** NOW ** Hotels WILL sell out, especially in October. We recommend booking a lodging along the *North Shore* from Thursday, Oct. 2 - Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025. We recommend extending your stay IN Duluth (i.e. Saturday, Oct. 4 - Monday, Oct. 6, 2025) to do some exploration!

Do I need a car rental? How do I get to Duluth?

Answer

Car rental is recommended as Uber/public transportation is limited in Duluth/North Shore. You can fly into Minneapolis (MSP Airport) which is 2.5 hours South of Duluth and get a car rental (recommended) or directly into Duluth (DLH Airport). Car rental is more limited in Duluth. Please make arrangements when able.

What is the weather like? What should I pack?

Answer

Weather varies widely in northern Minnesota: bring layers and monitor the weather for "Tofte, Minnesota." Ceremony will be outdoors, weather permitting. Reception and dance will follow indoors. Weather for Tofte, MN in October 2024 was a high of 55 F, low of 37 F.

What is the traffic like?

Going up and down the North Shore is a single lane highway and traffic will be very congested. Carpooling is recommended.

The dress code is cocktail attire and wearing 50 shades of pink is encouraged! Think pinks, maroons, or reds!

What are the dining options during the reception?

Answer

Light appetizers, plated meals, and dessert will be offered and general dietary restrictions will be catered to. Drink tickets will be given out followed by a cash bar.
