In April, San Miguel de Allende has awesome spring weather with warm days and cool evenings. Daytime temps are usually in the mid-70s to low 80s (24-28°C), perfect for exploring. Nights can get cooler, dropping to the low 50s (10-12°C), so bring a light jacket for the evenings. Because it's a great time to visit (and for a wedding!) with lots of sunshine and mild weather, everything will be outdoors or semi-outdoors. The reception will be under a tall tent that will feel like you're outside but will cover us in case we have rain.
San Miguel is a relatively small and dense town with narrow, cobblestone streets. The city is extremely walkable, but please pack comfortable shoes! That being said, it can be a bit hilly and the cobblestones aren't heel-friendly, so if you prefer to take a cab, you can easily spot them on the street. These are super affordable (typically less than $120 Mexican Pesos or ~$7 USD, cash only) and safe. Uber is available but tends to take a long time. You do not need a rental car to get around town. As a reminder, we encourage you to download WhatsApp to communicate with hotels and drivers.
The wedding venue does have 22 rooms available to book for those who would like to stay after the reception. We encourage our family and friends to spend the night at the venue as the wedding venue is about a 20 minute drive from central SMA.
We have the entire Finca to ourselves for this event, so the party doesn't really have an official "end" - we get to celebrate as long as we want! 🎉 That said, the open bar will be flowing until 2am!
While you might be able to get away with only using USD, we love using pesos for street vendors, taxis, and bargaining while shopping. There are multiple ATM's located around the central plaza or "El Jardin". Almost everywhere else accepts Credit Cards. Lots of places accept USD, too. Pro Tip: You can order pesos in advance from your bank for the best rate. This typically takes the bank 2-5 business days, so plan in advance.
Most AT&T, Verizon, & T-Mobile phone plans now have unlimited talk/text/data in Mexico. Please reach out to your provider to confirm or turn the data off on your phone once you arrive to avoid extra charges.
We are so grateful that many of you will be traveling internationally to celebrate with us, and your presence truly means the world. Because of this, we kindly ask that you not feel obligated to give a gift. For those who still wish to contribute, we have set up a honeymoon fund to help us create lasting memories together.
