How I called dibs on Juan

October 28, 2010

I still remember the first day of 11th grade so vividly. It was sometime in September of 2010. I had butterflies in my stomach as I walked through the hallways and saw a lot of unfamiliar faces. I was transferring schools so I was nervous. As I walked up the stairs to homeroom I was captivated by a guy who at the time was taller than most of the other guys I had just seen (tall was my type). He was wearing a white t-shirt, basketball shorts, and had a blue backpack on ( yes, I still remember haha) My initial thought was, “ he’s cute and I like his height.” Without hesitation I looked over at my sister (Leslie) and said, “hey, I call dibs on that one.” I don’t think I saw Juan again until probably the third week of school when one of our mutual friends introduced us. After that I’d always see him in the hallway and we’d say hi to one another. At some point at the end of September he began to walk over to my table during lunch time and started offering me his lunch. He didn’t even skip the days they gave “good” food. I started to think he was attracted to me because why else would he offer me his lunch everyday, right? I knew I had to start making some moves. I was even more motivated to try to get him to fall for me when a group of classmates and I made a list of the cutest guys at our school. We all agreed that he was one of the top 3. After that class, I purposely started talking to him more. I even started walking in front of the gym after his basketball practice in hopes that we’d bump into one another. At some point we got each other’s number and started texting. After working my magic for about 4 weeks he asked me to be his girl friend in the school cafeteria on October 28th, 2010. Haha The rest is history ❤️ iykyk I love you so much babe.

Juans side

The first time we met I remember telling my self, “Wow, a girl like that would never be interested in a guy like me.” Little did I know that the way to her heart would be food. I honestly gave her my food because I didnt know how to start conversation with her. The food was my excuse. Since the day I met Janeth, I knew she’d be worth trying for. I don’t see a day without her in my life. Janeth, you are my biggest fan and supporter. Marrying you will be one of my biggest accomplishments. Together we will break generational curses and teach our kids what true love is. December 8th will be our movie! Thank you to everyone who will be flying to Cancun with us. Much Love!
