How did they meet?

Spring of 2012 at the Lubbock Invitational Track Meet, young handsome, JT Cotton, spotted young beautiful, Maya Jones, from across the field. JT approaches Maya and asked for her name. In that moment he knew he met someone special. JT and Maya were Facebook friends for a year until Maya was brave enough to slide into JT’s DM (She knew he would take too long). She said something clever like, “I like what you post about”. JT responded with something more clever like, “ Yeah it’s important to talk about what’s real”. A few months later JT has become Maya’s first boyfriend. Unfortunately, the relationship ended for a while due to the couple going their separate ways with college. They kept in touch throughout the years and JT was always a great friend and supporter for Maya. He attended her senior year and college track meets. More distance grew between the couple over the years. JT always knew that if he had another chance with Maya that he would make her his wife. In 2018 the couple met for drinks to catch up. JT was mentoring, playing Semi-pro football, and working 2 jobs. Maya was in college working on her Masters degree. With one night on the town in Lubbock, TX the couple knew that something was missing in their lives. On that night they remembered how true and deep their love was. The relationship was natural and the couple knew that God had brought them back together. The couple set a goal to let their relationship glorify God, because they knew God had made them for each other.

The Proposal!

Maya Graduated with her Masters Degree in December 2019. JT surprised Maya after the graduation ceremony and got on one knee.

But God!

“And he said, “‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19:5-6‬ ‭NLT‬‬
