Sitting next to eachother at our dear friend, Quilty's, Confirmation celebration dinner during our senior year at Boston College (April 2007), we got talking about what our plans were after we graduated. Since we were full time athletes, studying abroad wasn't an option while we were in school, so travelling turned out to be the direction we were both heading before life in the real world. Our first date was on a first class flight from Boston to Amsterdam (thanks to Joanne, David's mom, who celebrates 50 years as a flight attendant in December 2018!!). We found out about where we grew up, how many brothers and sisters we had, and who knows what else, all while wondering to ourselves what was in store for this trip between two near strangers. Good thing our friend Petey Rogers was there for most of the time to make it seem "normal." That was great, considering we didn't even have a return flight booked! Many days of eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and nights sleeping in hostel bunk beds later, visiting Amsterdam, Prague, Athens, Greek Islands, Barcelona, Paris and London, we headed to our respective homes, Boston and San Francisco, not sure what to make of the last 7 weeks! We had an amazing time, so much fun, learned so much about each other, with only carry-on luggage! We would have booked another trip the next day had we not been out of money and sick of sandwiches! We passed the first test without even being in a relationship. That was all it took to know that we were meant to be together. Through cross country moves, many more travels and even more very normal times living in SF and NYC, through the highs and lows, looking back on that time always makes it crystal clear. To make a long (11.5 year) story short - we are beyond excited to have friends from all parts of our story together to celebrate with us in Marblehead. We love love, and we love you.
