Earls Grocery (1609 Elizabeth Avenue) is one mile from Uptown. You can walk, or ride the free Trolley, which stops in front. Good sandwiches, salads, breakfast bowls, and some of the best coffee in Charlotte.
Laurel Market (114 Cherokee Road) about 2 miles from uptown in the Myers Park area. A Charlotte institution and a McGarry family favorite. The breakfast burritos are legendary hangover cures, and the sandwiches are some of the best in Charlotte. Try the #11 (Virginia’s favorite) or the #6 (JP’s favorite) or the off-the-menu “Give Me A Kiss “ sandwich if you are feeling adventurous.
7th Street Station (224 E. 7th St) a food hall with sandwiches, coffee, wine, drinks, pizza, sushi, acai bowls, cheese, baked goods etc. If you aren’t sure what you are in the mood for – head to 7th Street.
DINNER OPTION. La Belle Helene (300 S. Tryon) one of Charlotte’s newer spots, serving French Bistro food. Very good – but will need to make a reservation. Also has a good bar, and can usually squeeze in two people for dinner.
King Kitchen (129 W. Trade) across the street from the Marriott. This is a non-profit restaurant that supports local charities that offer food assistance. It also serves as a training center for cooks and servers who are transitioning. Also, the food is very good, particularly the fried chicken and the meat loaf. If you want a good meal at a reasonable price, and want to feel good about yourself – this is your place.
Eddie V’s Prime Seafood (101 S. Tryon) if you are looking for a great meal in an upscale city restaurant, this is your place.

If you are looking for a nice, comfy dinner with good food and good wine, with no surprises, check out Roosters.
Sort of a British gastro pub, and sort of an American restaurant/bar. Reasonable price (for uptown Charlotte).
If you want a GREAT meal, try to get a reservation. Its 2 miles from uptown, and worth the trek.
One of our favorites. Seasonal Italian restaurant with good service, good cocktails and a great ambiance.
If you are in the mood for a Indian food, head to Copper. 2 miles from uptown in Dilworth neighborhood.
A southern classic. Out of town guests wont want to miss the Cajun Filet biscuit and, of course, the legendary Iced Tea.
