Jozie and Joshua’s story began on February 21, 2025, at a church gathering in Los Angeles. But in truth, it started a little earlier than that... Before they ever exchanged a word, Joshua had noticed Jozie on a friend’s Instagram story. Just a glimpse, her smile, her presence, and he felt something stir. “Who is she?” he wondered. When he learned she attended the same church as his friend, he didn’t hesitate. What might have seemed like coincidence was, to him, an invitation. At the time, Joshua was dividing his life between Modesto and Los Angeles, traveling back and forth. Suddenly, Los Angeles felt less like a city and more like a possibility. The moment they met, something settled in his heart with surprising clarity. In the middle of conversation and laughter, Joshua knew in the steady, certain way that feels like coming home. Their first week together was beautifully simple. A mid-morning brunch that lingered into afternoon conversations and discovering each other in quiet glances and thoughtful questions. It was not extravagant. It was easy. Natural. As if their lives had been gently aligning long before they realized it. The day after their brunch hang out, with a mix of confidence and anticipation, Joshua asked Jozie on an official date, one had already planned and made dinner reservations for ahead of time. Jozie agreed, unaware of Joshua's already-made plans for the both of them, that her heart was about to be undone in the most wonderful way. On March 8th, dinner was at Masa in Echo Park, candlelight flickering and conversation flowing effortlessly. Then, with sincerity in his eyes and courage in his voice after dinner, Joshua asked Jozie to be his girlfriend at the lake just down the street. Eight months later on November 22 , that same certainty, the one Joshua felt the first night he met her, had only grown stronger. What began with a simple question over dinner became another, even more life changing one. When Joshua asked Jozie to marry him, it did not feel like a surprise. It felt like the natural next step in a story that had always been unfolding with purpose. From an Instagram glimpse to forever, what began as curiosity became covenant. 🤍 On January 30th, of this year, Jozie and Joshua both went to the courthouse, signed marriage papers and became a married couple! It has been a beautiful year for Mr. and Mrs. Hicks and they can't wait to celebrate with all their close friends and family !
