We're getting married!

Trevor was a junior attending Tufts and I was in my senior year at Northeastern. I had tried several dating apps at this point with no luck...until Trevor messaged me on Coffee Meets Bagel. We had only shared a couple of words before he asked to meet for coffee. I suggested Jaho, a coffee shop in downtown Boston, not realizing how far of a trek if would be for him, but he agreed. He ended up being a whole 22 minutes late for our first date (I still tease him about it and he still blames it on the red line). I don't quite remember what we spoke about looking back, but I do remember thinking he didn't seem very interested (he says he was just nervous). To my surprise, we walked out and as we were about to part ways, he asked for my number. A year later, on our anniversary, he brought me back to Jaho for another cup of coffee. He made sure to be on time.

It was the fourth of July weekend. We were up at my family's lake house in upstate New York. With the pandemic and Joyce still in school, we hadn't seen each other in a little while. I wasn't planning on proposing that weekend. I already knew I wanted to marry her and I had my grandmother's ring, but I had intended to wait for the "perfect" moment. I brought the ring with me on that trip because I think part of me knew I couldn't wait. How could I keep a secret this big? That night I realized I couldn't wait any longer. I brought her down to the waterfront where we could be alone. I told her how much I loved her and how much I was looking forward to the lives we had planned out with each other. That's when I got the ring out of my pocket and asked to make that plan official. She said yes and made me the happiest I had ever been. After that, all I could focus on was not dropping the ring into the lake before I could get it on her finger.
