Ellis Island is the immigration station that most European immigrants were dropped off at in the late 1800s. The beautiful terminal is a museum now with curated displays immersing you in the experience of those who came on boats and saw the Statue of Liberty as they entered the country. To tour, take the ferry from Liberty State Park (a beautiful open air park with a view of downtown Manhattan).
