It all started with a DM on Instagram. They talked and then finally Collen asked the magical question, “ You like to eat?” Joy responded with much excitement, “ YESSSS!” During their first date at Bistro Byronz, the couple knew this would be much more than a casual brunch meet up, and that they would be seeing much more of each other. They bonded over similar interests, faiths, backgrounds, schools and much more. Since their first date, they never went a day without talking to each other. Although this was their first dating encounter, the two crossed paths many times during their time at Southern University. The couple explains that the timing was perfect and wouldn’t have it any other way. They are both grateful and pleased that God’s timing for their encounter was perfect and ended with them having a lifetime of forevers.

The couple, family and friends gathered at Collen and Joy’s home for Joy’s Graduation party to celebrate her Masters Degree. Joy had no idea that she would be getting the best of both worlds on the same day. Collen opened the floor to everyone to send their love and congratulations. Once everyone was completed, Collen called Joy to the front. He opened with, “Today we are here to celebrate you on your accomplishments , but I want to celebrate you for the rest of our lives”. He reached in his pocket, pulled out the ring and asked Joy to love him for the rest of their lives. Joy with much excitement answered with, “Yes! Of Courseeeee!”
