If you choose to explore Mt. Rainier, please note that all guests must have one park pass per vehicle for admittance to the state park. Acquiring a pass online prior to travel is recommended. The park gate does NOT accept cash. Standard park pass prices range from $15-$30 and the pass is valid for 7 days. The America the Beautiful pass is also accepted. Historic steam train rides through the forests near Mt. Rainier are a fun, nostalgic way to explore the area by rail. Regular scenic excursions run from Elbe to Mineral (about 18 miles round trip), with historical narration. You can also rent and ride pedal rail bikes on parts of the route.

About 1 hour from Packwood via the Skate Creek road. There are many scenic pullouts and short hikes along the drive. Take your time on the drive to explore.

Shriner Lookout and Mt. Fremont Lookout trails offers 360 degree views and are excellent picks if you’re up for a longer, or steep hike.
