Wedding Day!!!

One day while Gabriela was in worship practice and Jovani was doing the sound. He went to get the "Happy Roll" with some Krab Rangoons from Izziban. He was enjoying his favorite weekly "Sushi Sunday" meal when she came and sat next to him. Next thing you know, they immediately found their common interest—sushi! Her eyes were so focused on the "Happy Roll" that he felt convicted to give her a piece From there, they became friends!

Spring Break 2020, after youth camp, Gabriela had a pretty hard breakup. Jovani and Gabriela were just friends who knew each other—nothing special. One Wednesday night, during a youth class on Zoom (since we were in the middle of the COVID pandemic), she shared her story about the breakup. After the Zoom meeting, he messaged her on Instagram, flowing in the gift of counseling. He comforted her, gave her advice, and from then on, would always check in on her. That’s when the friendship began to grow. As their bond deepened, she was fasting from relationships for a year. During that time, he saw something special in her, but she didn’t feel the same way. In fact, she rejected his offers to go on dates several times. Despite that, they remained good friends—eventually becoming best friends. A little over a year later, they were both invited to a wedding in New York along with about 20 other people. She stayed at an Airbnb with him and a few others—of course, in separate rooms—but for most of the trip, she ended up spending a lot of time with him while the others had separate plans. He saw the trip as the perfect opportunity to charm her. So, for all 10 days, he paid for her meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Whether it was just the two of them or with the group, he always covered the bill. Being stuck together so often, she began to feel safe with him. She would never tell anyone, but she held his hand, hugged him, and clung to him—still calling it “just friends,” even though she knew how he felt. They made so many memories in New York, which only strengthened their connection. Shortly after the trip, he was ready to give up on pursuing something more, especially after over a year of trying. Never in his life had he waited so long. But through prayer, guidance, and God moving his heart, he held onto faith and continued forward—even though she still wasn’t ready to give him a chance. However, she began having conversations with a few trusted people about him, and they encouraged her to give him a chance. Eventually, she said yes to a date—Disney, for his birthday weekend. Just the two of them. Even then, he could tell she was still hesitant and unsure if she truly wanted something more. So they went on a few more dates until, finally, on November 28th, 2021, he asked to make it official—and she said yes. From that moment, their love began to grow, with God at the center of it all.

Ella compartió su historia sobre la ruptura, y después de la reunión, él le envió un mensaje por Instagram. Le ofreció consuelo, la aconsejó, y desde entonces estuvo siempre pendiente de ella. Fue así como su amistad comenzó a fortalecerse. Mientras esa conexión se consolidaba, ella decidió ayunar de relaciones durante un año. Durante ese tiempo, él vio algo especial en ella, pero ella no sentía lo mismo. De hecho, rechazó varias invitaciones a salir. Aun así, continuaron siendo buenos amigos, hasta convertirse en mejores amigos con el tiempo. Poco después de ese año, ambos fueron invitados a una boda en Nueva York junto con unas 20 personas. Ella se alojó en un Airbnb con él y algunos otros, por supuesto en habitaciones separadas, pero la mayor parte del tiempo terminaba pasando los días con él, ya que los demás tenían otros planes. Él vio el viaje como una oportunidad perfecta para conquistarla. Durante los 10 días, le pagó todas las comidas: desayuno, almuerzo y cena. Y sí, salieron mucho, ya fuera en grupo o solos, pero él siempre cubría los gastos. Al pasar tanto tiempo juntos, ella empezó a sentirse segura a su lado. Aunque nunca se lo decía a nadie, le tomaba la mano, lo abrazaba y se aferraba a él… pero “como amigos”, aun sabiendo que él tenía sentimientos por ella. Compartieron muchos momentos especiales en Nueva York, lo que avivó aún más su amistad. Poco después del viaje, él estuvo a punto de rendirse en su deseo de llegar a ser algo más con ella, especialmente después de haberlo intentado por más de un año. Nunca antes había esperado tanto por alguien, pero con la guía de Dios y fe en su corazón, decidió seguir adelante, aunque ella aún no estaba lista para darle una oportunidad. Sin embargo, ella comenzó a hablar con algunas personas cercanas sobre él, y la animaron a darle una oportunidad. Finalmente, aceptó ir a una cita… a Disney, para celebrar el fin de semana de su cumpleaños. Solo ellos dos. Él notó que todavía estaba algo dudosa e insegura sobre si quería algo más, así que continuaron saliendo un par de veces más hasta que, FINALMENTE, el 28 de noviembre de 2021, él le pidió que fueran oficialmente novios… y ella dijo que sí. A partir de ahí, su amor comenzó a crecer, con Dios siempre en el centro de todo.
