Melissas cousins had moved into a new neighborhood, they already lived in Grover, they just moved houses. Little did everyone realize, they moved into the neighborhood where Melissa would meet the man she is still with today. Not only did Melissa’s cousins move into the same neighborhood, they moved into the house right across the street from Chris. Melissa was soon introduced to Chris’ mom, Shelley, because she was Melissa’s cousins preschool teacher! Chris has two younger siblings, and they always played outside with Melissa’s cousins. Not long after the kids became friends, Melissa and Chris met for the first time when he was heading out, and was stopped by Melissa’s cousin to introduce the two. After that, Chris and Melissa hungout outside by taking walks around the block or just playing with his siblings and her cousins, or just talking. A couple months later and Chris finally asked the question. It was on the night of June 26, 2013. Chris’ parents had a bonfire going, and they had a running joke that his older cousin was going to end up asking Melissa out before Chris would. At the top of Chris’ drive way was when he asked and she said “uhhhhh yes!” Chris was only 15 and Melissa was 13, and turned 14 one month after. During those seven years, there were a ton of good memories, and some bad, but they pushed through. They made it through long distance, and have accomplished so much together. Chris attended and played football for the Gardner-Webb offensive line. Melissa started at Cleveland Community in Shelby. They both have worked towards their degrees. Chris has now graduated from Gardner-Webb in May of 2020, and Melissa has graduated from Cleveland Community in the summer of 2020. Finishing out her degree at Gardner-Webb. Soon later, a day before Melissas 21st birthday, on July 25, 2020, Chris proposed to Melissa!!
