“We’re getting married!”

Melanye and Maurice It was March of 2022. Love was in the air. Edna, hostess (Melanye’s co-worker/friend) had gathered at the seafood restaurant “Rendevous” off the Marina Bay (boat view) in Ft Lauderdale, Fl for her birthday brunch. Melanye was invited to attend and Maurice was invited to attend with his close friend, Daniel. The two of them pulled into the restaurant parking lot about the same time, however, Melanye got out of her Jeep first to enter the restaurant, oblivious to the fact that she was being watched by Maurice, who had no idea she was going in to attend the same meet-up that he was. Little did either one of them know, they were about to meet and eventually fall in love with their soulmate... As Maurice stared from the table across from Melanye’s, he was smitten by the fact that the woman he saw walking across the parking lot outside was now sitting facing him and according to him God whispered “there is the one you’ve been praying for”. Little did he know, Melanye had begun the Daniel fast 4 days before with prayers of God finally, sending her person to find her. Maurice must have been that one because he was crushing hard. Melanye says she has video receipts. Melanye left the party before Maurice made his move, but Maurice was determined to make the connect so he asked Edna to “hook a brother up with the connect”. Within 30 min of approving the connection with Edna, Maurice affectionately nicknamed “Bogie (short for Bogart)” by Melanye, sent Melanye a text message and insisted that they talk on the phone instead because he’s “old school”. One text, turned into their first date, their first kiss, years of phone calls, selfies together, spontaneous trips & adventures, belly aching laughs, cooking videos and great times with friends and family that all love the M&M duo. Melanye & Maurice have experienced quite a journey before meeting each other, but God had his way for them to land right where they were meant to be on March 6, 2022 and reaching the chemistry. It was palpable.  March 13th (2 days before the wedding) will be 3 years that this love connection began. Everyday their love gets stronger, their smiles get brighter and anyone who comes in contact with this duo all say the same thing… “I love this love.” “It’s something you feel and know, God put this together.” “They both bring the best out of each other.”

Traveling to the “A“ (Atlanta, Georgia), Melanye’s place of birth, has become the norm for M&M during their courtship, but the Valentine’s weekend visit in February 2024 was one they will never forget. Maurice arranged a surprise wedding proposal at Melanye’s Dad’s house in Newnan, Georgia after church on Sunday, February 18, 2024 in front of her family after asking her dad for his approval. When Mr. Haywood approved, Maurice got on one knee in the dining area to one of he and Melanye’s favorite songs, “Keeps On Fallin’” by Babyface & Ella Mai, and with tears in his eyes, asked Melanye to marry him. Melanye, with tears in her eyes, without hesitation, answered, “Yes”. And the journey to Ellis began.
