We met while working at UPS. We always walked into work at the same time, even though we worked in different departments. We would have small talk during lunch breaks, but neither of us made a move. Then one day Journay was transferred into the same department as Rashad. What a coincidence! We would playfully compete with each other on who could perform tasks the best. Eventually, Rashad gathered the courage to ask Journay on a date. On our first date, we spent the entire day together while babysitting her niece. On the second date, he took her to meet his family and we've been together ever since.

It was Mother's Day 2021. Rashad claimed to be out the entire day with our daughter, Amari looking for a Mother's Day gift. Later, we showered each of our mothers, but Journay only received a "Happy Mother's Day." By the end of the day, Journay had grown pretty upset. She avoided Rashad and hung out in Amari's room. It was a little after 10pm and Rashad could not hold the surprise any longer. He walked into the room, got on one knee and said, "I don't want to let another Mother's Day pass without asking (pulls out the ring)...Will you marry me?" Journay stood up and burst into tears. She said, "Yes," and we embraced each other with our daughter.
