Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Stephanie Casanova and Jourdan Ramirez
When we visited Medellin last year, we fell in love with the city. From its stunning mountainous views, adventurous cuisine, rich Colombian history and infamous nightlife - we knew, if we were going to celebrate our love and heritage, there was no better option than Medellin. With that said, similar to visiting any other large city, you must be a savvy traveler. Medellin welcomes tourists with open arms, but we encourage you to discover the city with caution and awareness of your surroundings. If you can spare a few days to explore the city, we highly recommend it. Below is a list of exciting things to do and see in Medellin. With any tour/activity, make sure to read the reviews for quality and try to take advantage of pick-up/drop-off options from Medellin's city center, making the experience more convenient and safe.

Guatapé

Guatapé, Antioquia, Colombia

Explore the colorful streets of Guatapé and climb the 740 steps of Piedra del Peñol for panoramic views of the lake-dotted landscape. A day tour to Guatapé and El Peñol from Medellín typically includes transportation, breakfast, a boat ride on the Guatapé reservoir, and a visit to Guatapé's famous colorful, zócalo-decorated houses. Many tours also include lunch and can be booked as group or private options. We booked a group tour through Airbnb but Viator is another great option. This was one of our most memorable days on our Medellin trip, it's a must-do!

Tour Comuna 13

Carrera 110, Medellín, Antioquia 050028, Colombia

Comuna 13 is a neighborhood that has transformed from one of the world's most dangerous areas to a vibrant, tourist-friendly district known for its art, culture, and community projects like outdoor escalators. The neighborhood is renowned for its colorful street art and graffiti, which tells the story of the area's past and its journey to peace and revitalization. If you'd like to learn more about Medellin's history and celebrate the local art scene, we highly recommend this half-day tour. We booked a group tour through Airbnb Experiences that included local snacks and beer, but Viator also has some great options.
