How We Met

A workday introduction, a lifetime connection.

How We Met Jourdan was managing a property in Antioch, Tennessee when one of Oluwatobi’s associates—who worked on her maintenance team—needed an extra hand on site. Oluwatobi offered to help, taking a day off not only to lend his support, but also to finally meet the woman the maintenance team (and his close friends from high school who worked under Jourdan) couldn’t stop talking about. When their paths crossed, Oluwatobi walked into the office to introduce himself. “Hello, my name is Oluwatobi Ola. You must be Jourdan.” Jourdan—ever focused and to the point—shook his hand and replied, “Jourdan Collins. Nice to meet you. Get with the maintenance supervisor and he’ll let you know what needs to be done. Just report back once the work is finished,” before heading right back to her busy workday. Meanwhile, Oluwatobi thought to himself, “Dang… shorty didn’t even let me finish my spiel. I had some more game to spit!” But for the two of them, that brief moment was enough. Oluwatobi was direct, confident, and didn’t let that interaction deter him. He found himself coming back to the property more often, and with each visit, their connection grew stronger. At one point, Jourdan jokingly asked, “You know I’m not paying you, right?” Without hesitation, he replied, “I know. I don’t need the money—I’m here to help you in whatever way I can.” From then on, it was no longer the maintenance team reaching out to Oluwatobi for “help.” Jourdan began reaching out herself—sometimes for assistance, sometimes just to see him. Oluwatobi didn’t mind at all; there was something about Jourdan he couldn’t shake. And although Jourdan wouldn’t admit it at the time, there was something about this tenacious man she couldn’t shake either. What began as simple conversations soon became something neither of them could ignore. It wasn’t long before they discovered that Oluwatobi lived just down the hill from the very place where Jourdan lived and worked—an unexpected reminder that their lives had been closer than they ever realized. From that moment on, they were inseparable, building a love rooted in laughter, support, and genuine companionship. In December 2024, they traveled to Atlanta to celebrate Christmas together. During a romantic candlelit dinner on Christmas, Oluwatobi asked Jourdan to spend forever with him—and in true Jourdan fashion, she replied, “OMG bro, are you serious?! Yes!!” The rest, as they say, is history.
