While we love your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only celebration.
You can find a detailed dress code for each event on the Schedule page.
No! Everyone is encouraged to dress to their personal and cultural comforts. We simply ask that guests dress appropriately for the Anand Karaj on Monday, September 7, if they plan on attending. For the Anand Karaj, guests are asked to wear modest, respectful attire with shoulders and legs covered. Head coverings are required for all guests (head coverings are provided for all guests), and shoes must be removed while entering the Gurudwara.
We understand that Indian weddings are pretty long affairs, so if you can't make it to everything, that is totally okay -- just let us know! The two most important events are on Saturday, the wedding ceremony at Newfields, and Monday, the Anand Karaj and evening Indian reception. If you can make it to either wedding ceremony, we would be thrilled to celebrate with you!
Please RSVP by August 5th!
Absolutely - just let us know by August 5th, and we can let our caterers know.
Yes, we have a registry here on Zola - you can find it on the Registry page.
Dress Modestly Wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees. Formal or semi-formal attire is usually appropriate. Bright colors are generally welcome; unlike some Western weddings, black is not necessarily required or preferred. Please note that the ceremony takes place sitting down on the carpeted ground, so we recommend ladies wear long-enough dresses or outfits that they can sit in comfortably. If you aren't able to sit on the ground, there are benches in the back. Cover Your Head & Remove Your Shoes Please cover your head upon entering the Gurudwara. Head scarves will be provided, but we recommend ladies to bring a matching scarf with their outfit if they can! Hats are not preferred. Please also remove your shoes upon entering the Gurudwara at the designated shoe area at the front of the building. Seating Arrangements Some gurdwaras traditionally have men and women sit on opposite sides of the hall. This is generally a matter of custom, not a statement about status. If in doubt, follow the lead of Jot's family members! Alcohol and Smoking Please don't bring alcohol, cigarettes, vaping devices, or recreational drugs into the gurdwara grounds. During the Anand Karaj The central part of the ceremony involves the couple walking around the Guru Granth Sahib four times while hymns are sung. Guests usually remain seated and observe quietly. You do not need to participate in religious recitations if you are not Sikh.
