How We Met

In July, one of Elisha's best friends asked her to go on Hinge with her. Elisha downloaded and joined alongside her bestie, thinking nothing was going to happen. Then, on July 14, Madison and Elisha went on a hot girl walk. While they were talking about marriage, singleness, the church, and overseas work, Elisha mentioned that she had redownloaded Hinge. Madison got so excited and asked for Elisha's phone. She quickly fixed it, and we started swiping left and right. Josue's profile came up, and Elisha quickly skimmed and swiped left. OOPS! Madison quickly said, "Wait! Go back. What's wrong with him?" Elisha said, "He's in the military..." That was not a good enough reason for Madison because everything else on Elisha's checklist, Josue checked off. She encouraged Elisha to flirt and send something to start a conversation. Zach Bryan. Josue had a voice message, and in the background, Zach Bryan was playing. Elisha loves some ZB and started a conversation with Josue after the second swipe. Little did she know that Josue was not in Anaheim; he was serving our country out in Guam. He suddenly became Guam Boy or Mexican Zach Bryan to all her friends. Three months pass by, and FINALLY, they meet. They met in October at Wolfskill, a Riverside staple. They both knew after that night that this was going to be something else. Josue has been and is so intentional in loving Elisha that hard conversations lead to prayer and counsel. On November 4th at Huntington Beach, Josue and Elisha called their relationship what it is. They were long-distance for 9 months, until Josue dropped down to one knee and asked Elisha a question she had been dying to say yes to since January. The Lord has been so faithful in our lives, and our past is evident in God's intentional plan for each of us. As we plan this wedding, we praise God for calling us to be His children, for Jesus' death and resurrection, and for the Holy Spirit who reminds us of the beauty of Jesus and the ugliness of sin. We are excited to celebrate with you the start of this next chapter of our lives!
