Bus Madrid-Ávila

The bus from Madrid to Ávila is run by the company Jiménez Dorado. There are a few options that leave from the airport (Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas T1 and T4) but the times are very limited. There are more options from the stations Moncloa Intercambiador or Estación Sur-Mendez Álvaro. There are also trains from the station Principe Pío, run by the company Renfe. We recommend getting a taxi, Uber or Cabify to the stations if you can't take a bus from the airport. Moncloa is closer to Ávila, so the journey would be slightly shorter from here. Tickets are not transferable. You may be asked for identification before boarding and will have assigned seats. ------------------------------------------ El autobús Madrid-Ávila está operado por la compañía de Jiménez Dorado. Hay algunos buses desde la T1 y la T4, pero los horarios son muy limitados y, si tu vuelo llega a cualquiera de las otras terminales, sería necesario coger el shuttle bus para llegar hasta allí. Desde las estaciones de Moncloa y Méndez Álvaro hay opciones cada hora, aproximadamente (la primera está más cerca de Ávila y el trayecto debería se un poquito más corto).

Taxis from Madrid Airport

There is a fixed fee of €30 for all official taxis from the airport to anywhere within the M30 ring road in Madrid. Both bus stations and train stations are within this area so you should pay exactly €30 and no more. You can pay by cash or card. Car sharing options are also available, with the most popular being Uber, Cabify, or Bolt. These often turn out to be cheaper than the €30 fixed fee, depending on demand, time of day, etc. The taxis and the car sharing companies like to fight with each other so they have been relegated to a specific pick-up spot. If you prefer this option, read the attached article to find out exactly where you need to go. The "VTC" signs in the airport will also point you in the right direction. --------------- Hay una tarifa fija de 30 € para todos los taxis oficiales desde el aeropuerto a cualquier punto dentro de la M30 de Madrid. Las dos estaciones de autobuses y las estaciones de tren están dentro de esta zona. Puedes pagar en efectivo o con tarjeta. También hay otras opciones como Uber, Cabify o Bolt. Train Madrid to Ávila

Renfe offers a train service from Madrid to Ávila leaving from Principe Pío Station. It's a more comfortable journey than the bus. It takes roughly the same amount of time as the bus. The station at Ávila is about a 15-minute walk from the centre. There are taxis available. If coming by train, we recommend buying the train tickets as soon as possible as the tickets often sell out quickly. ----------------------------------------------- Renfe ofrece servicio de tren de Madrid a Ávila saliendo desde la estación de Príncipe Pío (tren media distancia, 1,5 horas de viaje aproximadamente). El tiempo de trayecto es muy similar a la opción de bus. Ambas estaciones están a una distancia de unos 10-15 min a pie del casco histórico.

Driving to Ávila

If you prefer, you can rent a car from Madrid airport and drive to Ávila, which should take around one and a half hours. We've left a link to Booking.com so you have have a look at the prices. The tricky part is getting out of Madrid but, once you're past city limits, it's plain sailing on good roads. There is a toll which costs around €14. ------------ Es bastante sencillo llegar a Ávila en coche desde Madrid. Solo hay que tener en cuenta que hay un peaje de €14 si vas por la AP6. El trayecto dura unas 1,5 horas, dependiendo del tráfico.

Accommodation in Ávila

We recommend getting a hotel or apartment close to the centre so you have the opportunity to enjoy the city.
