Our Story

For starters, without Jesus our story does not exist and it is because of Him that our relationship has grown and thrived over the past few years. We met while serving as Summer Staff at a Young Life camp in Minnesota called Castaway. Neither of us had been planning on being there at all that summer but the Lord had other plans. We were both last minute additions to staff. Her, the maintenance girl and him, the sail boat guy. When Zac first saw Jos across the room of the first group meeting, he couldn't help but notice her quiet demeanor and for whatever reason (God, duh) felt drawn to her. A week in and Zac was hooked. He worked up the courage to ask Jos to go off and talk and for some strange reason she said yes. Zac decided it would be a good idea to spill his feelings for her and share his entire life story, all his triumphs, mistakes, and dreams (probably not the best of ideas but hey, it worked!). Jos sat in silence, staring at an incredible lightning storm across the lake (God for sure put it there for a reason). For the next two weeks Jos picked and choosed when to let Zac notice her, meanwhile, Zac had chalked it up as a defeat. As it was time to go home, her to Denver and him to Kansas City, Jos chose Zac to be the last one she said goodbye to before boarding the bus. With confusion in his heart, Zac drove home. Two days went by and Jos worked up the courage to call and tell him of her feelings for him. Three weeks later Zac flew out to Denver and the rest is history. By God's design, we survived two years of long distance and defeated the odds. God has had his hand in our relationship since the beginning and continues to be the driving force of our life together. We are so grateful for everyone who has supported us. Just a Missouri boy and a Colorado girl finding love at a lake in Minnesota.
