Josie Leyh and Zackary Forstie met at Iowa State University in January, 2016. Zack was in his senior year, studying Agronomy. Josie had just transferred from NIACC, and was in her second semester at Iowa State studying Elementary Education, specifically Special Education. On the Saturday night before spring semester classes started back up, Zack and his friends happened to be going to a party they heard from walking around Campus Ave. Josie was at an apartment on Campus Ave with her high school friends and current roommates. The group of boys & Zack joked about having a friend inside (to try to get into the party without question). Josie took it upon herself to joke back and said that this person they were looking for was her cousin. Intrigued the boys all looked at each other and they were surprised by the response. Josie let the group in, and immediately hit it off with Zack. After Zack's group of friends pointed out this person (Josie's pretend cousin), she immediately nervously, laughed it off and said that she was joking. Everyone laughed and the group stayed. Josie and Zack continued to talk and joke for the remainder of the night. The next Monday, the first day of school back from break, Josie was walking to one of her educational technology classes that was in the Aerospace Building aka Howe Hall on campus. She was in the skywalk from Hoover Hall over to Howe Hall, when she saw Zack walking on the other side of the skywalk. Zack was on his way to one of his classes. She was so taken aback as she had never seen him before that Saturday and Iowa State University had a BIG campus. She took it as a sign, and Zack said that they should meet up in the library to study that week. Later that week the two met up in the library. Zack of course was studying in the periodicals area of the library (the quiet area). Josie, FAR FROM QUIET, whispered and tried to learn more about Zack. Zack the prankster and funny one that he is, continued to make Josie laugh. Josie laughed so much that someone in the area reported the "loud behavior" and we were asked to leave the section. They packed up and moved to a different location of the library and continued conversation, and not much homework was completed that night. Zack then asked if Josie was available to go on a date the next week. Josie agreed! The rest has been playing out before your eyes over the last 6 years. We are excited for our next adventure and cannot wait to celebrate with all of you!
