We went wine tasting on our first date back in 2020. It was a devastating year for wildfires, yet the smoke and distant flames cast a surreal, almost fantasy-like glow across the sky—perfect for a moody backdrop. As we admired the vineyard, a stranger asked if we could take their photo with the view, offering to return the favor. Even though it was only our first date and we barely knew each other, we hesitantly agreed. Six years later, we’re grateful to have a photo from that very first date together—something we now treasure and look back on often.
