Carlos and Josie first met in a dingy bar on Long Island. Josie was visiting a high school friend at Hofstra, and the two were out celebrating Cinco de Mayo at a bar called McHeebs. Carlos approached Josie to ask about a mutual friend, but after a brief exchange, they both went on with their night, giving little thought to each other. Months later, fate intervened—Carlos happened to enroll at The College of Saint Rose (RIP) to play soccer, the very school Josie had been attending for years. Just before classes began, Josie and her friends hosted a “Wine Olympics” (an idea that, in hindsight, was questionable at best—but, hey, they were college students). Carlos showed up, and from that night on, they were inseparable. Their journey together began in their first shared apartment on Partridge Street, where Josie lived “New Girl”-style with three of Carlos’s teammates. In 2019, they moved into their own place on South Lake Avenue, and in 2022, they took the next big step—buying their first home. Looking back, they are endlessly grateful for the invisible string that tied them together all those years ago.
