We met through our UC Berkeley church fellowship. Though we had known each other for about two years, Covid allowed us to get to know each other in a smaller group setting. Lori: My first encounters with Josiah were difficult. He shut down small talk, gave off an intimidating vibe, and I distinctly remember thinking, "God, I could never be friends with this guy". It wasn't until Covid where we were in the same social bubble that allowed us to know one another in a more intimate setting. What started off as bonding over our Korean American experiences turned into a mutual enjoyment in getting to know the other beyond surface-level. When he learned I never watched Avatar the Last Airbender, he insisted I watch it as he had downloaded the whole series on a hard drive. Whether in person or over Discord, we watched the series together. Once we finished the last episode over Discord, he confessed to me. We went on a date and that was the start! Josiah: I met Lori when she was a Freshman and I was a Sophomore, but I didn't talk to her. I only knew her as Lilian's sister. Fast forward to Covid, we spent a lot of time together in the same bubble. Sokka from the Southern Water Tribe became my wing-man and that's all I have to say about that.
