Q&A

The Wedding Website of Glory Shrock and Josiah Nelson
Questions for the couple
Question

What was your first impression of each other?

Answer

Josiah: The summer before college I worked at a church camp. A week after I arrived to the camp my family moved to North West Indiana and began working at Hyles-Anderson college. In which, later that year, I would enroll as a student. Some time in the first month of classes I saw Glory from across the row in my Old Testament survey class back in 2022. I noticed she had a wrap on her hand. It was evident that she had hurt herself. She then proceeded to drop her iPad on the floor because she couldn’t hold it with her injured hand, lol. She said she had injured it in volleyball the previous evening. She was beautiful and seemed to be put together… until she dropped the IPad. Then she was beautiful and clumsy

Question

What was your first impression of each other?

Answer

Glory: I went to Hyles-Anderson College in the fall of 2022. It was a huge change from my normal life. I’m from a small town in Kansas, where my church has about 100 people. Culture shock definitely hit me during those first few weeks. After orientation and the start of classes, Spirit Week came along. A student named Josiah texted me and asked if I would be part of the music special competition. I’ve always loved music, so I was excited for the opportunity. Later that week, I walked into the designated practice room to meet the other freshmen who would be singing. That’s when I met Josiah Nelson in person for the first time. He was confidently giving his opinions about what needed to be done and didn’t leave much room for debate. I remember thinking, So this is Josiah… I’ve seen this guy in my classes. Why is he ordering everyone around? What a pompous jerk!

Question

When did you realize this relationship was serious?

Answer

Josiah: I had my thoughts of asking her to date, but I had told myself I wouldn’t date my first semester. Lo, and behold, I would spend much of my time at the college bookstore, at which she worked. I would often pretend to be working on assignments only to end up talking to her for an hour. Later on in the semester, she, myself, and my best man Matthew were having a deep conversation about life and family. I was on passing the time on my phone, but then I looked up and knew; this is the one. I can’t describe it, it was a little random; but I knew- I’m going to marry her. One of those moments you find in a movie. She still only viewed me as a “friend”. Later on I mentioned something about her dating someone, and she said “I will never date someone younger than I am”.. she was 19.. I was 17.. In my mind I thought, “challenge accepted”.

Question

When did you realize this relationship was serious?

Answer

Glory: It was Spirit Week, and we were in the gym. There was so much cheering, and people were using whistles and trumpets to make even more noise. Josiah had let me use his trumpet. I was down on the main floor cheering, and he was up in the balcony. For a second, I looked up and saw him just staring at me. That’s when it hit me. What musician lets a random person he met only a week ago use his instrument? And secondly, why was this man staring at me and making sure I had everything I needed and wanted ever since we met? “Oh no…” I thought. This is going to be a problem. That was the first time I realized he had a definite interest. What followed was a two-year-long story of me pretending not to notice. I played the “innocent” card, lol. But during that time, I grew to value his presence and his friendship more than I expected. Then came the spring concert at the college. We were both performing, and after mic, I decided to relax for a bit and went to the rec room. When I walked in, Josiah was there. He just watched me as I came over. For the first time, I truly got butterflies. For once, I wasn’t afraid of what might happen. I was just genuinely excited to see him. That’s when I knew. After him patiently waiting for two years to date me, I was finally ready.

Question

What do you most admire about your partner and what are you looking forward to in the future

Answer

Josiah: Easy answer, she is drop-dead gorgeous and I definitely picked the best of the best. But other than that major factor— I admire her attention to detail and coordination with decorations, colors, and clothing. I look forward to using both of our strengths in conjunction to produce great things for the Lord. Despite her disposition of being an introvert, she loves people and is a soul winner. I recall many accounts of bus ministry, on tour, or just out soul winning of her seeing people saved. I’m excited for our future life together.

Question

What do you most admire about your partner and what are you looking forward to in the future

Answer

Glory: The first thing I started to admire was his effort to make things better. Of course the ruggedly handsome appearance was a close tie, lol. But, he has always been such a hard-working person. He consistently steps outside of his comfort zone to talk and reach out to others. This is something I’ve been trying to emulate in my own life. Because of his upbringing and the people he allows to influence him, he is wiser than his age and makes sound decisions. Josiah strives to maintain a good countenance and works very hard to keep his flesh in check. He has always treated me so well, and I am so excited to serve the Lord with him. I have confidence that he is a man truly worth following. God gave me someone I truly do not deserve
