November 9, 2013 In great Philadelphia, at the exquisite Mitten Hall within Temple University, a dance showcase was being hosted. Unknown to each other, yet through mutual friends we were sitting only a row apart. At the end of the event, we all walked out together heading down the lit city streets. All that was left between us now was the ice breaking first conversation. A whole night of low light performances left us with nothing but a spark and a real story. We only had three blocks to embrace all we thought we had left in knowing each other, yet the exchange was the greatest blessing we ever received.
September 2, 2014 After months of random encounters, two hour drives to thirty minute dates, and three AM FaceTime conversations, we finally decided to call it what it was. Astrid began working as a social worker in Pennsylvania, while Joshua began his pathway to join the United States Navy.
May 2, 2019 It was one of our many visits to Pensacola, FL. Another day in Paradise, we took the day to enjoy some time around the Pan Handle. After driving through Alabama to visit some sites , we ended the late afternoon in Orange Beach under a beautiful bridge that connects Florida to Alabama. While overlooking gorgeous and secluded mini gulf islands, we took the kayaks out for some fun in the water, waiting for the sun to set. Encapsulated by the moment, the story so far, the life that will be, our love for God, our families, our culture, and each other; the champagne bottle popped and the question was asked,“Will you marry me?”and she said, "Yes!"
