Joshua and I first connected in early January 2023, when we planned to go on a date. However, I ended up canceling and didn’t plan to follow up. I apologized, explaining I was busy with law school, but Joshua didn’t know that God had other plans for my heart. The Holy Spirit was calling me into a husband fast at the time. For forty days, I stepped away from social media, dating apps, romance novels, and anything outside of Christian media. It was a time of deep reflection, where I focused on understanding marriage from a biblical perspective. By the end of my fast, pursuing a relationship was the last thing on my mind. My heart was so full from drawing closer to God that my priorities had shifted entirely. But just as I was settling into this season, I felt the Spirit nudging me to reach out to Joshua and see if he was still open to that first date. Joshua was so kind and understanding, and on March 9, 2023, we met for the first time. From that moment on, we’ve been inseparable. God’s timing is truly perfect. If Joshua and I had met just forty days earlier, we wouldn’t have been ready for each other. But by the time my fast ended, God had already prepared my heart—and brought me my husband. What a beautiful story! We’ve already shared so many exciting milestones side-by-side: I graduated from law school, took the bar exam, and passed it, while Joshua took his operator’s license test, applied to start his own business, and has been building it from the ground up. Each step has been a testament to God’s faithfulness and the strength we find in supporting each other. We are so excited to embark on this new chapter as best friends, in love, forever, and we are endlessly grateful for the love and support from our families and friends. May we always strive to honor God in all that we do, and above all, in this marriage. With love, Zoe & Joshua
