Things To Do

It's hard to pick just a few recommendations because Washington is just full of great things to do. Please feel free to reach out if you have questions or want more suggestions on things to do and see while you're here! I tried to stick to things close to the wedding venue, but other places that are worth visiting if you have more time include the Olympic Peninsula and North Cascades National Park.

Leavenworth

Leavenworth, WA 98826

This faux Bavarian town on the east side of Stevens Pass is a popular spot for sightseeing, shopping, and dining. It is nestled up against the beautiful Enchantments region of the Stuart Range of the Central Cascade mountains. There are numerous hikes of various lengths and difficulties within minutes of town. There are also lots of lodging opportunities here in the form of vacation rentals and hotels and motels. On hot days (most of the summer there), you can walk right down to the river and find a spot to put your feet in or go for a swim. Our favorite treat yourself spot there is Larch. Our favorite more casual spot to dine is Yodelin Broth Co. A popular more strenuous hike is Icicle Ridge, yielding views and wildflowers.

Skykomish

Skykomish, WA 98288

Just west of Stevens Pass, Skykomish is a historic mining town with a great deli (LouSki's), and a great bar (The Whistling Post - order the chicken sandwich and thank us later). There are many hikes within several miles of town. A favorite is the Foss River trail. This shaded, low angle trail gives you lush Washinton forest views as you walk to the sound of rushing water. It's a great one on a hot day. We also love Sky River Coffee for any caffeine-related needs. Be sure to get gas in Monroe, Sultan, or Gold Bar if you are traveling in from the west, as the gas station in Skykomish is really expensive.

Seattle

Seattle, WA

If you want to do a city day while you are in Washington, some favorite spots in Seattle are Discovery Park, Golden Gardens, and the Ballard Locks for outdoor time and great views. The Fremont neighborhood has a lot of good food options and is a fun place to walk around and explore. The Chihuly Glass Museum is probably my favorite museum in the city and maybe anywhere. I believe it is well worth the price of admission to feast your eyes on the larger than life sculptures set in a really cool building. I also love West Seattle. It has a more laid back vibe than downtown. The beaches and parks there are all really great.
