It was Seema's birthday and she had gathered a group of some of her best friends to go out downtown to celebrate. The plan was to go on one of those downtown pedal pubs where you exercise, drink, and listen to very loud music as you pedal around downtown. To start the tour, you have to check in at a little business over on West 6th. Guess who happened to be working the front when Seema walked in? (It was Josh) There was a shared interest and bond at first site. Josh checked Seema in and started talking about how they both lived in Austin and both were only three weeks apart in age. It seemed like an innocent start and they both assumed they would never see each other again. Sadly Josh wasn't the group's driver and their paths would separate. In a stroke of fate, Seema's group took a different route and ended up stopping at the same stop as Josh's tour. At that moment, Seema had some liquid courage and with support of her friends, were able to call Josh over to talk and eventually exchange numbers. After texting a bit, a few weeks went by. Later that month, Josh had his birthday and Seema reached out to text him Happy Birthday and that they should hang out. The first date was a walk along town lake to get to know each other and the chemistry was undeniable. What was planning to be a short morning event turned into an all day hangout culminating in a Drag Brunch on 4th street. From that day on, the couple was inseparable. A couple of months in after a dinner downtown, Josh and Seema were walking back to Seema's apartment while holding hands and smiling. At that moment, in one of the sweetest moments that the have experienced, a random person sitting on the side of the street yelled, "Y'all gonna get married!" after noticing how happy Josh and Seema were. Seema turned bright red and they laughed it off. To this day, "Y'all gonna get married" is a common phrase that they tell each other and they will never forget that moment. Seema and Josh started introducing each other to their friends and both groups accepted the newcomers with open arms. After meeting the friends, Seema and Josh eventually got an apartment downtown together. Seema had one request; if they were to move in together, she wanted a dog. Josh agreed but once they were downtown, it didn't seem to happen due to the size and location. But in Seema's heart, she knew she wanted to care for an animal and they both started visiting shelters to rescue the perfect dog. Finally, Seema and Josh left the busy downtown life to move into a house in North Austin. With a house, came a yard, and with a yard, Josh had no more excuses. It was time to get a dog. In November 2023, Josh and Seema met Barley in Cedar Park at a shelter. They met him in the afternoon and by 8am the next morning, they were on the way to adopt him. With Barley, the house finally felt like a home and it was the best decision they ever made. A couple of months later, Josh planned a trip to New York. With the help of Lindsey (one of his pubcrawler co-workers and his first friend to meet Seema), they went to New York to celebrate Lindsey's birthday. Even though Seema was ready for a nap, they were able to convince her to go to the hotel roof. In front of the beautiful New York skyline, there Josh proposed to Seema and she said yes. From there, it was official. In what was one of the best weekends of their life, they were able to confess their love to the world and go on a New York adventure. Now they are so excited for the next step and to have a ceremony to profess their love and commitment to each other. As best friends and parents to the best dog ever, both Josh and Seema are so excited to take this next step and see where the journey of life takes them.
