Josh and Megan met during Megan’s freshman year and Josh’s sophomore year of high school in history class. Josh sat behind Megan and asked for her number “for homework help”… even though he was actually better at history than she was. He spent most of that year teasing her in class. Megan went home and told her dad about it, and he immediately said, “He’s flirting with you.” Megan refused to believe that. There was no way in her mind! They stayed friends that year, texting about school and seeing each other in class. The next year, they had geometry together. Once again, Josh asked Megan for help — but this time she wouldn’t just give him the answers. She agreed to help him with the homework instead. Somewhere between history notes and geometry problems, things started to shift. They started dating in 2018 and never looked back. Josh drove Megan around in his old white Ford Taurus — a car that was constantly having issues and somehow still managed to get them where they needed to go. To this day, Megan isn’t sure how her mom allowed her to ride in it. About a month into dating, their geometry teacher casually mentioned that he had former students who met in his class and later got married. Josh and Megan looked at him like he was completely crazy — they were 16 and 17 years old and had hardly been dating. But here they are. High school dates turned into countless trips to their favorite local Mexican restaurant, where the waiter still knows their order. What started as teasing in history class and “homework help” turned into something steady, lasting, and a lot more than either of them expected.
After high school, Josh and Megan both went to Northern Kentucky University. Megan was in the middle of early softball lifts, long practices, and game days, and Josh was almost always there — in the stands, in the parking lot after, or waiting to hear how it went. He celebrated the wins and was the steady voice after the hard practices and tough losses. Josh was studying business and marketing when he made the decision to join the Marine Corps. During boot camp, their only form of communication for three months was handwritten letters. No quick check-ins — just envelopes, stamps, and a lot of waiting. Megan got to watch him graduate from Parris Island, which made every letter worth it. Later, she visited him in 29 Palms over fall break. Since he wasn’t allowed to have a car on base, Josh had to run a mile one way just to see her. A lot of miles were logged during that visit. After his year away, Josh came back to campus and picked up right where he left off. He continued serving in the Marine Reserves while starting his own business, ClearVision Home Improvement. By the time graduation came around, they were walking across the stage together. Through college, distance, military training, softball seasons, and building a business from the ground up, they kept choosing each other.
After graduation, life didn’t exactly slow down. Megan continued to pursue her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree and will be graduating just one month before the wedding. Between exams, clinical rotations, and a lot of studying, it’s been a busy season. And yes, Josh is still her shoulder to cry on after a long day — some things never change. Josh continues running ClearVision Home Improvement while serving in the Marine Reserves. Between job sites, military weekends, and everything in between, he’s stayed steady through it all. Somewhere along the way, nine years passed. Apparently between high school homework, boot camp letters, college schedules, starting a business, and grad school, they just got a little busy. Turns out, nine years was the perfect amount of time.
