Joshua and Maren met in April of 2023 at the Larry Joe Taylor Music Festival in Maren's hometown of Stephenville. At the time, Joshua was living in Irving and working in the DFW area, while Maren was in Houston, halfway through Occupational Therapy school. Maren was out on the mountain with her college girlfriends, and Josh was reluctantly drug to the musical festival by his roommate. Although, being from Abilene, Josh had a hard time passing up a Texas Country concert. Josh and Maren first noticed each other during William Clark Green's set and after a few shy smiles and plenty of eye contact, Maren finally took the initiative and pulled Josh down from the cooler he was standing on and said "I think you're really cute." From there, the rest is history. Joshua and Maren continued to date long distance for the next 9 months, taking turns making trips from DFW to Houston until Maren relocated to the DFW area. The two got engaged in May of 2025 (one day shy of their 2 year anniversary) and now both live in Fort Worth.
