We met in a summer chemistry class way back in July 2015. We both almost didn't end up in the class for a multitude of reasons, but all the more reason to think it was meant to be. During the first week of class I was present only the 1st day because that was the week we went to Vegas for my mom and Rich's wedding. Turns out one day was enough for Joshua because by the time I came back to class the next week he had transferred into my lab group. That first day was like talking to my best friend and we were hooked.

If you ask Joshua why he proposed when he did, he'll tell you: because it felt right. Long story short(er), I asked Josh to visit me for the Tulip Festival in Holland after being bailed on by others a few times. (Tulips are my favorite flowers!) What I didn't know was that my ring had been delivered just that week and Josh had a feeling that that weekend was the right time. We had planned to go to the festival early, so that Charlie, who is quite an anxious pup, wouldn't have to be around so many people. But if you know me, you know that I am always late, so we were there in a crowd. I told Josh we needed to turn around before we even got to the big tulip field, because Charlie wasn't having a good time. Poor Josh was acting so strange on the walk back, unbeknownst to me trying to salvage his plans to propose. We stopped in a little glen to 'give Charlie a break.' As oblivious me was taking a grainy zoomed-in picture of some random bird and thinking that Josh had to fart away from the public, he worked himself up for the question. I had absolutely no idea what was happening, so after the 'will you marry me?' and this man literally on one knee, my first (and second and third) response was 'are you serious?' Spoiler alert: he was.
