How We Met

Are we surprised it starts at QT?

Demi and Josh first met at QuikTrip in 2020 when Josh picked up a shift at Demi's store. He claims he just knew then and there that Demi was going to be his wife. They worked a full shift together, Josh trying to start conversation here and there but Demi wouldn't really engage (turns out she had a boyfriend at the time, insert eye roll). Colton, God bless him, told josh he would keep him updated if anything changed. Josh transferred to Demi's store in hopes of working with her more, but alas, the stars were not aligned... yet. Demi moved off to college by the time Josh transferred. Over a year passed, but Josh knew what he felt that day he met Demi and he knew she would come back. Over a year and a promotion later, Josh now an RA, heard from Colton that Demi was back in town, she was single (woohoo) and she had promoted too! Were the stars finally aligning? Josh knew the RA at Demi's store, so he asked him to call in and request Josh to cover the shift so he could work with Demi. This time, he was going to make it count. Josh showed up to his shift bright and early at 445am. A whole 15 minutes early. The store looked a little rough. Josh knew this was the perfect opportunity to start conversation. He gave her some tips, but Demi thought Josh hated her (she wasn't very good at taking constructuve feedback lol). This wasn't going to deter Josh. Josh ended up texting Demi, thank God for store rosters with everyone's phone numbers, to bring in cups for her next shift. Demi only liked the message. Basically no reply :/ So Josh got creative. He somehow kept the conversation going and they began talking every day. The time had come. Josh asked Demi on their very first date... and she said YES! Josh picked Demi up, and truly took her on the most memorable first date. Mostly because it was one that should have scared most girls away the first time meeting a boy. I mean, axe throwing, seriously?? But they had so much fun, laughter, and conversation that they both knew this was going to be something special. They went on a second date, and a third, and then they just never stopped hanging out. They were just kids with no idea what they were doing, but they knew they loved one another. Over the months and years they learned each others strengths and flaws, hobbies, histories, fears, dreams, and everything in between. It only made them love each other more. Love is not a constant feeling or emotion. Its a commitment and daily choice to serve and support one another. Marriage is not just a piece of paper signed or a one time decision. It is a picture of the Lord's promise to each and every person, to love His bride unconditionally and forevermore. It is a covenant made between a wife, a husband, and God, to be a testimony of the Lord to the world. One that Josh and Demi are excited to enter into and be a lifelong example of the grace and unconditional love that Jesus has shown us.
