How we met

05/08/2025

Before Joshua ever stepped onto her porch, Courtni had been praying. She asked God to prepare her heart for the man He had chosen for her — and she often joked that if he was really the one, he would probably just have to show up on her front doorstep. She never imagined how literally God would answer that prayer. At the time, Joshua and Courtni had never met. Joshua was working in West Virginia when a coworker mentioned needing a company work truck. At that exact moment, Courtni — miles away in Kentucky — was preparing to return the very truck that coworker needed. So after a long shift, Joshua agreed to drive his coworker five hours to pick it up. Late that night, Joshua walked up to a stranger’s front door, simply expecting to help with a work errand. But when Courtni opened the door, neither of them knew they were stepping into the beginning of the story God had been writing for them. The exchange was quick and simple, but the conversation that followed was anything but. On the long drive back, Joshua and Courtni started talking — and they didn’t stop. They talked through the night, discovering shared values, shared humor, and a connection that felt unmistakably God‑crafted. From that night on, they never stopped talking. Not one day. Looking back, they can clearly see God’s hand in every detail — preparing them, growing them, and bringing their lives together at exactly the right time. They are grateful for His timing, His guidance, and the beautiful way He arranged their meeting.

The proposal

11/26/2025

The Proposal They spent Thanksgiving with her family at an Airbnb in Aurora, Illinois — but for Courtni the day held something far deeper than a holiday gathering. For two months, he had been quietly preparing for a moment that would change both of their lives: writing a song, choosing the ring, asking Courtni’s dad for his blessing, and working with her parents to keep everything beautifully hidden. He arrived a couple of hours early to set the scene. The lights were low and warm, candles glowed softly around the room, a fireplace flickered on the TV, and a path of rose petals traced a gentle trail from the front door to where he waited with his guitar. On the door, he left a note explaining the reason he had been short and not able to share everything— he had been preparing for this moment. When Courtni walked in, she stopped in complete shock. Joshua began playing the song he had written, a tender blend of worship and love that carried every emotion he had been holding. As the song ended he dropped to one knee and asked. “Courtni, will you marry me?” Tears, laughter, and pure surprise washed over her as she said “shut up! Of course I will! Her parents came back in to celebrate. Every moment felt touched by love, by gratitude, and by the quiet certainty that God had brought them exactly where they were meant to be.
