Matt and Josh met online and had their first date at Eighth and Hays, a wine bar in Pittsburgh's Homestead area. They enjoyed a night of fine wine and meats and cheeses as they nervously talked about themselves and their lives. They shared their first kiss outside (though its debated who kissed who first) and began their relationship together, talking almost every day before Matt traveled to Europe.
The pandemic was in full swing, and Matt and Josh went 9 weeks without being able to see each other in person to remain safe during the first major wave of COVID-19. During this time Matt and Josh facetimed daily during their work day to continue to be in contact, and began playing World of Warcraft nightly to keep contacted. Matt and Josh decided to take a weekend getaway to Bloomsburg to stay in a Firetower and enjoy nature while we all had to keep 6' apart. It was the first of many trips taken together.
Matt and Josh moved into their first apartment together in beautiful South Park with their 3 cats: Eris, Toby, and Mei. They became one big happy family quickly, though not without a few renter friendly projects and a few hundred trips to IKEA. They built a home they loved.
Josh and Matt got to experience their first Christmas together with friends and both sides of the family and their first Christmas together under the same roof. It didn't come without a shock, as they both ended up with COVID on New Years Day, spending even more time together stuck at home. This gave them plenty of time to tackle even more apartment projects!
Matt surprised Josh on St Augustine's beautiful beach with a ring and a question: "Will you marry me?". Josh of course called him a bastard out of surprise and said "Yes!". The two of them celebrated with the Erevelles family for the rest of the vacation and come home to the love and support of their friends and family. Without all of you we wouldn't be here today, and we thank you each for the role you have played in our lives!
