How We Met

How We Met We met the good old-fashioned way. On Tinder! Josh messaged Jazzy with an actual question, and the conversation flowed from there. We exchanged a few messages and then Jazzy rescheduled a few times. Finally, on a freezing cold night, we met up at a cozy and crowded cocktail bar in Fort Greene where we swiftly went next door so we could hear each other and really see if it was a good match. We spent the night laughing, drinking, getting free pie, and dancing. Falling In Love Pretty quickly, we were absolutely smitten with one another. We cooked together, leveling up each other’s go-to meals with tips and tricks from each other. We got to know each other’s friends and spent the warm spring and summer months soaking in the good weather and each other’s stories (many of which Josh has heard repeated back to him because of Jazzy's love for telling the same story the exact same way over and over again). We learned more about each other’s quirks and habits and how to balance each other out. Covid Pivots… When covid hit, we took the unexpected path of living with Jazzy's family for 5 months. During this time, we experienced many ups and downs together along with the rest of the world. The silver lining that we cherish to this day is the amount of time we all spent together, allowing Josh to really get to know Jazzy's family in a way that never would have happened otherwise. …and Puppy Love Early on, Jazzy signed up to foster dogs with a local shelter and when we got the last-minute call that there was a dog coming up from the south the next day, we jumped on the opportunity to fill Jazzy's days with more than puzzles and cooking, the main way of passing the times during the early days of covid. Indigo showed up the next day. She hopped out of the transport crate and wiggled her way on her back all over the grass, happy to be greeted by us. We got in the car to drive back, and she immediately curled up in Josh's lap and started giving him kisses. Within the week, we had renamed her Indigo and officially welcomed her into the family. The Proposal While getting to know Jazzy’s family, and growing our own with Indigo. Josh realized he wanted Jazzy to be his wife. The idea of building a family and a life with her was everything and while Jazzy was out working nights in the summer of 2020, they planned a very special engagement. Christmas is a very special time for Jazzy and her family and it was also the best case scenario for actually surprising her since taking trips or doing any grand gesture was pretty much out of the question. And so the plan was set, for Josh to go home to his family a few days before Christmas and make his way to Long Island with the help of Jazzy’s sister, Sage and her partner, John. All while making sure Jazzy had no idea. In September, Soon after the plan was set, we moved back to Brooklyn and the waiting began. And we kept busy, making our new apartment a home for us and Indigo. On Christmas Eve, Josh made his way to Long Island and asked her to marry him. Obviously, she said yes.
