- A We met at the University of Alabama in Huntsville in the fall of 2016. We had seen each other in the gym for months and had crushed on each other, but neither of us made a move. Josh approached me outside of the gym one night and we ended up talking for four hours. He had me laughing harder than I had in a long time and he was so honest and genuine that I knew he was special. From then on the talks got longer and more in depth, and the rest is history. - J The gym has always been a place that the two of us go to really just focus on ourselves. We go there to zone-in on ourselves and to not pay attention to other people at all, unless we absolutely have to. That being said, I noticed Amber once back in May 2016 and thought the usual, "Oh man she's so gorgeous, but she's way out of my league. Just leave her alone". But then I began to see her more and more frequently, and eventually (as creepy as it may sound) could time my going to the gym to line up with when I knew she would be in there. So I did that for a few days / weeks. Keep in mind, I still haven't spoken to her. I've just been coincidentally in the gym most of the days that she's in there! It took me a good 6-8 weeks to build up the courage to talk to her. Six to eight weeks of coming home after every time I saw her in the gym and raving about how great she was, how hard she worked, how attractive I thought she was. I finally built up the courage to wait for her after her workout and speak to her in the parking lot. I didn't want to be another guy approaching a beautiful girl in the gym.. that seems a bit played out to me. Let her finish her workout, then talk to her, ya know? After FINALLY speaking to her, I learned that she had taken notice of me, and had thought that I was out of her league as well. So after a 4.5 hour first conversation, followed by several more 3+ hour conversations in the days after, we knew we had found our forever person. We haven't looked back since!

Josh and I decided to take a trip to New York City before the fall semester started. We spent a couple of days touring around New York and then Josh surprised me with tickets to see a Broadway show! We got dressed up for that, but had planned on going to the Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center first. Somehow, I was oblivious to Josh's plans, so when he dropped to one knee in front of a bunch of strangers I was completely shocked! After that we pretty much floated through the rest of the day. Josh was so calm and confident and he did an amazing job with the proposal!
