Josh and Jess work at The Rock Box Music School & Stage. Jess has been teaching there since 2018, and Josh has been teaching there since 2020. One day, around the beginning of Josh's time at the Rock Box, Josh was filling in for another teacher and walked into the lobby from his studio to call a student back that he was subbing for. Not knowing what she looked like, he looked towards someone who was sitting in a chair and asked her if she was a student. This person then responds saying, "No, I'm Jess, I'm a teacher here too. You'll be subbing for me next week though, so thank you in advance!" In other words, Josh mistook his future wife for a student, which can be considered his first compliment towards her?
