Flight
Portland is the best bet for those flying to Maine. It is only about 15 minutes from downtown Portland, and 20-30 minutes from Biddeford. Though the flight cost might be a little more, it is typically worth it to avoid the hassle and added cost of flying into Boston.
Flight
While we recommend flying into Portland, we understand that some of you may find it more convenient to use Boston as your travel hub, particularly if you are loyal to an airline that doesn’t serve Portland. Boston's airport is a roughly 90 minute drive to Biddeford. There is a bus, Concord Coach Lines, that picks up at the airport and drops off in Portland.
Travel Note
The main highway in the state is the Maine Turnpike (I-95), which is a toll road. An EZ Pass transponder from any state will work, but if you do not have one, make sure to have cash to make your transportation a little smoother. Typical cost is $1 per one way trip, though if you’re coming from south of the Maine border, there is a $3 toll plaza at York (exit 7).
Hotel
Call to reserve and mention the Cioffi-Smallwood wedding to get in the room block. Studios and one-bedrooms are available for $129, two-night minimum (October 25 and 26). You must book by September 25 to get the block discount.
Travel Note
Check out the Residence Inn Scarborough listing for hotel accommodations. Aside from hotel, there are many AirBnBs in the Biddeford Pool area, as well as rentals as far south as Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport and as far north as Ocean Park between Saco and Old Orchard beach. Going this route will probably allow for more comfortable, more personal lodging for guests. And could prove to be more economical should guests who know each other be willing to rent a larger house to fit more people. For those who definitely prefer hotel accommodations, Greater Portland has most any of the national brands that one would want.
