It all started on a blistering hot day in August of 2014 on the sixth floor hallway of Hagerstown Hall at The University of Maryland - wow, that was a lot of prepositions! That’s technically when we first met, but for the next year Julia would call us friends and Josh would call us "acquaintances." It wasn't until a year later, coupled with a trip to the National Zoo, that we officially started dating. Which has since evolved into late night ice cream runs, brewery dates, and a large collection of houseplants.
It was a blustery cold day in March of 2021 on the beach of Mantoloking in the great state of New Jersey - ah yes, more prepositions! We had just gone for a run in the neighborhood and finished with a quick trip to the beach so Colby (Julia's brother Phil's dog) could run on the sand for his birthday. When Julia turned around to take a picture of Phil and his family, Josh got down on one knee to propose. Julia of course said yes, amongst her happy tears - there were a lot! Afterwards we celebrated with our parents and siblings, toasting to our engagement with a wide array of beers from all the states that were important in our relationship: MD - where we met, VA - where we live, and NJ - where we got engaged!
