Joshua met Shannon the summer of 2013. They were waiting tables together at a steakhouse. Through mutual friends, they found themselves spending lots of time together with plenty of campfires, pizza, and Settlers of Catan. They found themselves to be inseparable by winter, when Joshua asked Shannon to be his girlfriend, right before Christmas. A few months later, they went on to move in together, where they would spend two more years supporting each other through various endeavors. Fall of 2015, Joshua would trick Shannon into believing a family member had needed to “give away a hot air balloon ride.” She fell for it, and on October 30th, they went airborne, coming down a newly engaged couple. As Joshua knelt on one knee, the balloon operator began filling the balloon with helium, cutting off the famous words. She knew exactly what he meant, and happily obliged. As they floated over Franklin, TN that day, they couldn’t do much else but smile ear to ear at each other. The couple were married on July 7th, 2018 in Big Spring Park in the company of their families. Both still in the restaurant industry, they reside in their home in West Huntsville, accompanied by their two cats, and their Great Pyrenees, Basil.
