Sarah and Josh met in the most traditional way possible, online dating. After a week or more of chatting, it was time for them to meet. It was Saturday, October 16th and Josh picked Daveste Vineyards in Troutman, NC as the meeting place. Sarah and Josh both arrived to a sold out fall festival, which lead to Sarah's first words to Josh in person: "Do you know how to use the internet?" Needless to say, they needed to pivot. Sarah and Josh ended up at Twisted Oak in Statesville, NC. They sat at the bar chatting and sipping bourbon for hours. It went so well that Josh asked Sarah to go to the NC Renaissance Festival the next day. She said yes, and the adventure began. Fast forward to February 26, 2022, Sarah and Josh had plans to go see Eric Church in Charlotte but Sarah's appendix had different plans. Sarah and Josh spent the day and evening in the hospital for Sarah to receive an emergency appendectomy. While laying in an ER room waiting for surgery, Josh told Sarah he loved her. And although she could barely get it out through the pain, she let him know that she loved him too. Josh stepped up to the plate and saw that Sarah and the dogs (Shelby and Zoe) were taken care of for the next six weeks while Sarah recovered. It was during this time Sarah and Josh realized they didn't want to live apart any longer. Josh and Zoe moved to Cornelius, NC a few months later. The rest is history!
What Sarah thought was just another day at the wineries turned into one of the most special days of her life! On August 19, 2023, Josh pulled into the parking lot of Laurel Gray (Sarah's favorite winery) and once he could get Sarah to stop talking and look at him - he pulled out a ring box. Josh then got out, opened Sarah's car door and got down on one knee to propose. Sarah doesn't remember exactly what he said, but does recall a "Yo SPP, will you marry me?" to the tune of a Naughty by Nature song.
Our wedding ceremony and reception will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Green Gable Farms in Statesville, NC. This is an outdoor venue, so please dress for NC December weather and wear appropriate footwear.
