Josh and I met on Tinder! He began the conversation with “Hey” and I don't think he knew what he was getting into! He really is the reason why we are still together. I would respond with an answer and then not respond for days.... But luckily, he didn't delete me! After a few months of texting back and forth, I finally got up the courage to ask him out! I got a little impatient.... Between his shift schedule and my board prep, eventually, the stars aligned and we were able to meet. Our first date was at his apartment in KC and we ended up watching Let’s Be Cops. Afterwards, I just knew this one was different. Our relationship hit a bit of a snafu when I moved to Wichita after 1 month of dating. But Josh took it in stride and we both made the journey up and down I35 frequently. I think I could have driven it in my sleep!
The build up: I think we both just knew this was it. About 6 months into the relationship, we started changing from if to when we get married. After getting back from South Africa, Josh had been persistent that we go look at rings. Well, I found one after looking for like an hour and that surprised both of us a bit. I honestly didn’t think that engagement was on the horizon. Through sneaky texts and conversation with a good friend of ours, he was busily planning the day. I really had no idea what was happening. The Day: A few days before was our 2 year anniversary, I had received this beautiful bouquet of flowers from Josh. He kept saying “that was your gift” to throw me off the trail. So, when Saturday rolled around I was unsuspecting. It was a normal Saturday. We ran some errands in the morning. By Noon, I wasn’t feeling the best, but Josh had a few more things to do. So we dropped by his apartment for a few minutes to get me some meds. He was in and out in like 2 minutes, which was very fast. Little did I know that he was setting up the surprise. Upon arriving home, his plan was for me to see a sign that said “How about dinner, drinks, movies….. for as long as we both shall live?” Well, I didn’t see that sign and essentially ruined his plan. Instead, I turn around to see Josh getting down on one knee. The rest is history.
