National Mall
The National Mall hosts national landmarks, free Smithsonian museums, and an abundance of walking paths. Local's tip: weather permitting, go at night when the monuments are lit up and it is less crowded!
Rock Creek Park
Enjoy beautiful Rock Creek Park, with an entrance right next to the Omni hotel, in the best time of year to see fall foliage! There are hiking trails, picnic sites, and an extended section of road that is off limits to motor vehicles, perfect for a walk or bike ride. For quicker access to longer paths, you can also drive/uber to "Peirce Mill."
Local Neighborhoods
Check out close neighborhoods Adams Morgan, Mount Pleasant, and Dupont Circle for shopping, food, and nightlife. You can also venture to Georgetown, Chinatown, and Capitol Hill to see some signature sights!
National Zoo
Like many local attractions, the National Zoo is both free and well kept!
Hiking and Nature
For the adventurous, drive down to beautiful Shenandoah National Park in Virginia for gorgeous fall hiking and driving. If you want to hike closer, you can also check out the Billy Goat trail in Great Falls Park on the MD-VA border.
Smithsonian Museums
Check out some of the free Smithsonian museums! Our favorites include the National Gallery of Art, Asian Art Museum, African American History Museum, and Hirschhorn Art Museum. The Air & Space Museum is also a fan favorite! Note that the Natural History and American History museum are slightly more kid-focused.
